After an engaging Day 3, children are gearing up for another one today. The themes on which children will be consolidating their learnings were revealed to them and have evoked enthusiasm in all. These include coins, marketplaces/ bazaars, architecture, housing, food and leisure/ entertainment. In their specialised groups, they are starting to construct the fact-based stories using the narrative writing skills. This is being done keeping the framework of Delhi’s past and present realities as the background. Children spent their morning hours in this process.
Children will be mostly making museum visits and enhancing their understanding of their specific theme. Collecting more data via observation and discussions with the facilitators is slated for the plan for the day.
The evening session will recommence at the hostel after milk and snacks. The interpretations from the day will be consolidated and discussed. These stories will be refined further in the evening today for a final presentation tomorrow. The focus is to combine the skill of oral storytelling and narrative writing with historical references. Further, these themes will be taken up in the class as well to rearticulate and create a comprehensive description of the theme and how it evolved over the years.
It is heartening to see children helping and collaborating with each other taking care of their emotional and intellectual needs. They are well and happy, immersed in their activities. The day will come to a close with dinner and Circle Time for taking stock and reflections.
