Swine Flu Advisory
The first step in preventive health is to be aware and to be prepared. With several recent cases of Swine Flu being detected along with information on past epidemics, it is important to stay informed and take appropriate precautions against this.

What Is Swine Flu?
It’s an infection caused by any one of several types of swine influenza viruses. Swine influenza virus (S1V} or swine-origin influenzas virus (S-OIV) is any strain of the influenzas family of viruses that is endemic in pigs. The known SIV strains include infiuenza C and the subtypes of influenza. A known as H1N1, H1N2 ,H2Nl, H911, H3N1, H3N2, and H2N3.

Symptoms

In case of Swine flu, symptoms commonly detected are:

  1. Fever with rigor + chills.
  2. Sore throat
  3. Muscle pain Severe headache
  4. Coughing
  5. Shortness of breath
  6. General discomfort.

Respiratory discomfort/shortness of breath is very common in Swine Flu. It’s important to understand that swine flu symptoms are very similar to Influenza.

In case such symptoms are observed in any person he/she should get immediate medical attention for further management and timely remedy. Any individual who has met an H1N1 positive case, should consume Tamiflu 75 mg (Oseltamivir Phosphate) as a precaution.

Preventive measures and Infection control
To reduce chances of infection from Swine Flu it is recommended that you frequently wash hands with soap and water or with alcohol-based hand sanitizers, especially after being in public.
Various vaccines are available for H1N1 strain (swine flu). Please consult with your doctor if you wish to know more.
Pregnant mothers, diabetics are highly vulnerable to swine flu.
Maintaining Social distance is another tactic – staying away from other people who might be infected, and can include avoiding large gatherings, spreading out a little at work, or perhaps staying home.
