Khoj Update for 7A and 7D (4.12.15) Day 4
Dear Parents, Warm greetings from The Heritage School, Gurgaon! School takes this opportunity to share with our esteemed parents the sequence of events that generallyunfold during children’s visit to Bajju, District Bikaner, Rajasthan. Our children began their day with milk and biscuits, at 6:30 am. The weather in Bajju is cold during the night and early morning. The children are very enthusiastic and taking a good care of themselves and each other. A reflection circle is conducted in the morning with the children, revisiting sequences of previous day’s visit to the village of Dhani Anganwadi, Hospital and girls Hostel. It was heartening to learn that the Children shared their moments thoroughly and had enjoyed the visit to the village, spent quality time with their friends and their hosts. They also shared that the houses in village are so clean and hygienic. The visit presented an opportunity for our children to learn about the customs and traditions of Dhani village. They particularly liked the spacious and airy houses and sharing dinner with their families. They were amazed to know that the girls in the hostel get everything free, ranging from food to things they need in their daily life and also for study. However, the children also recognized the lack of other important facilities in the villages and perceived how important these amenities are to provide equality and hygienic environment to the village children. Following their breakfast at 8:00 a.m., the students will commence their theatre campaign preparation on Children’s Rights with the help of theatre experts and folk artists. Experts will share rubrics on Designing and developing a campaign pattern. The children understand the nuances of design as to how they can use this assessment tool to create a successful campaign and will then make necessary changes in their campaigning design to enhance it and move it in the right direction of success. Children are working in small groups to design campaign for all the rights that at present are not implemented. Children will break for bath and lunch and will have own time from 12:30 to 2:00 pm. Post Lunch, children will visit anganwadi again to see how it functions and around 4:30 pm the students will be visiting their favourite spot- the sand dunes and enjoy the camel cart ride today. They will share about their emotional and physical well-being over the evening snacks and tea/milk. After returning from the sand dunes, the students will have a Circle Time to reflect over the day’s learnings. Dinner shall be served at 8:15 pm. All the children are gearing up to make their campaign a great success. They are mindful of the significance of their campaign and are hoping to bring about a positive change through this endeavour.
