Class IX:   – A programme towards self-reflection

Dear Parents,

You would agree that it is essential to initiate deep and meaningful dialogues with our children to address the dilemmas in their minds on issues related to respect, responsibility, freedom and discipline. As the children traverse the path of empirical learning, our effort is to help them evolve from constantly being guided to being encouraged to take independent decisions.

Samvaad has in the previous year been a platform where the children have come to a common understanding of processes, possibilities and expectations. It also helps create an open space for dialogue and reflection with our young adults.

Thus we are initiating a Samvaad with the children once again. Each of the three class IX sections will be with us for an overnight stay till the next afternoon. The finale of the programme will be an interaction between Students, Parents and Teachers. The students will go back home with their parents. This is a very important segment of the programme and we request you to participate without fail. The programme also includes adventure sports apart from space for discussion and reflection for which a consent form has been sent with your ward. The same needs to be filled in and returned positively by tomorrow, 29^th July’2011.

The section wise breakup, time for parent interaction and list of item to be carried is given below.

Please note that it is mandatory for every student to participate in this programme.

Our Meditation Centre is the venue for the Programme and overnight stay. A sum of Rs.665 per head is payable by tomorrow to cover the expenses of the above programme.

As mentioned above, the finale of the programme would be an interactive session between the parents, students and educators, following which the children will go back home with their parents. Following is the section wise break-up of the timings for the parent interaction session:

Please note that on 1st and 8th August, students of Classes IX A and C will be taken to the meditation centre after completion of the Monday test. The test will be conducted as per the schedule given.

A list of suggested items of clothing and personal kit to be brought by participants is given below.

Please note:

a) Comfortable trekking / activity shoes are essential requirements for the adventure sport.

b) Students should not carry any cash or valuables. Cosmetics, perfumes, electronic items like mobiles, I pad, I pod, camera, laser etc. will be confiscated.
