Subject – Detailed Assessment in class VI, VII, VIII and IX

Dear Parents,

As you would be aware, the school has launched a series of initiatives in the recent past so as to strengthen overall academics. As a part of this program, we are focusing on Assessments as well as Remediation.

Accordingly, we are happy to inform you that we are currently conducting a pilot program for Detailed Assessments in partnership with Educational Initiatives (EI) – which is a leading firm in the field of Diagnostic Assessments, started by a group of IIT / IIM (Ahmedabad) alumni.

The ‘Detailed Assessment’ program will cover classes VI – IX. It is envisaged that there would be 8 diagnostic assessments, at regular intervals throughout the year, in English, Maths and Science, adding up to 24 tests. These topic wise diagnostic tests are designed to help students and teachers to quickly identify and remediate the concepts in which there is deficient understanding.

The main features of Detailed Assessment are as follows:

Periodic Diagnostic tests will help identify teaching / learning gaps.

The tests use a customized mobile device which provides the results through an SMS to a server. The analytical feedback is received within 48 hours.

Students and parents will get a descriptive report that will clearly identify strengths and inadequacies in the classroom processes.

Customized guidelines are provided with every test so as to enable the student to improve performance.

Detailed Assessment transforms the examinations from a stress inducing process to an enjoyable activity.

Clear remedial action ensures that learning gaps are closed immediately.

We are confident that this initiative will be warmly welcomed by all students, teachers and parents.

The current pilot evaluation is expected to conclude within the next 3-4 weeks. Thereafter, we will revert to you with further details including estimated costs (expected to be around Rs. 1500 per student per year)
