Khoj Update for 7A and 7D 2.12.15) Day 2
Dear Parents Warm greetings from The Heritage School, Gurgaon! The day started with milk and biscuits at 6:30 a.m. after a sound sleep last night and woke up afresh. At 7:30 am, the students had a reflection on the question – “What struck you the most in the desert?” Our students engaged in a thoughtful discussion. Sand dunes and scenery of the desert was what struck the children the most. For a few, the simplicity and hardwork of the natives was also something that would remain with them. Breakfast was served at 8:00 am. Each class was divided into two groups, with one group starting a workshop on Child Rights and the other group being with the theatre experts at 9:00 am and this shall continue till noon time. The workshop began with a Hook to engage the students and they have now gone for a Gallery Walk to learn more deeply about the subject. They are also learning about the nuances of theatre as a medium of campaign. They will work on all the rights, watch videos and see a presentation on Child Rights in Rajasthan. This will be followed by some stimulating crew and class discussions to build an understanding of these rights. Subsequently, the groups will switch the tasks at about 2:30 pm. Small breaks are scheduled between the activities to help students focus better. Between 12:30 and 2:00 pm the children will have own time to bathe, rejuvenate, and have their lunch. Lunch will be served between 1:00 and 1:30 pm. The children will leave for the sand dunes at 5:00 p.m. and return by 6:30 pm. The children will also have solo time soaking in the peace and quiet of the surroundings, watching the sun set and make beautiful memories. They had an enjoyable time yesterday at the dunes with a camel ride topping the experience. They also had a session yesterday to read through the Child Rights manual. In the evening, children will be taking milk/tea and biscuits. The call for dinner will be at 8:30 pm. After their meals, the children will retire for the day. All the students are healthy, happy and in high spirits about understanding what KHOJ really means. Regards Grade 7 Team
