Golf Course Extension (GCE) Campus

Pre Nursery to Grade 2
The HXLS Junior School lays much emphasis on spaces that are designed to propagate learning and are seamlessly integrated with the curriculum. Learning is supported by a three-dimensional domain that includes physical surroundings, furnishings, and play materials; the social environment which comprises activities and social interactions; and the inner or spiritual universe of thoughts, intentions and imaginations held by the child. The architecture of the campus is designed to promote learning in all these spheres. With the aim to create a joyous, nurturing and vibrant space that stimulates children’s curiosity and imagination as well as their instinct for exploration and inquiry, careful thought has been put into every aspect of design. Rather than large-scale interiors and exteriors which overwhelm children, the play equipment and washrooms are all child-sized and designed to encourage independent use. Even the pastel colour palette, used throughout, has been selected after much deliberation to ensure that the environment enables but does not over stimulate young minds.
Situated at a prime location in Sector 64 Gurugram, near Worldmark and a 10-min drive from the GCE Junior Campus, the HXLS Sector 64 campus is set to embody our 20 years of learning/experience in creating institutions of excellence.

Learning Overview
At the HXLS Junior Campus, Golf Course Extension learning has a touch and a pace, allowing mind, body and spirit to work creatively together. Progressively embedded in mindfulness, our curriculum helps children develop humane and discerning minds with the ability to translate thoughts into action.
The aim of the Junior Programme is to create a joyous learning space for children to feel comfortable with themselves and their new environment.
In the Primary years, RELATIONSHIP is at the core with our focus on RHYTHMS and REAL-LIFE WORK. This leads to Relationship, Rigour and Relevance in the later years.

Sensory & Spiralled Learning
Three Teachers
“There are three teachers of children teachers in the classroom at any one time: The Educator, The Child, and The Environment.”
Care, love and intention expressed through the environment are imbibed unconsciously by children.
Teacher Training & Empowerment
- Our schools invest in ongoing in-house teacher development to enable educaters to understand the developmental needs of young children and provide timely individualised interventions.
- 500 hours of continuous teacher enrichment program
- We prepare educators to embrace all children in a circle of care and warmth to provide a secure inner and outer environment for these formative years.
- The adult: child ratio is 1:8 and the classes house two teachers in a class of 32 students till Grade 5.
Parent as Partners
- We aspire to partner with the parents and enrich the child’s experience and environment in these formative years. The relationship between educators, parent and child is deepened over time through a variety of means: workshops, engaged discussions, meaningful conversations, celebrations and community outreach.
Parent Engagements
- Expert Sessions are an opportunity to grow as parents as we connect, discuss child development and parenting issues in attempt to understand the child and us as parents.
- Outreach program to encourage reading and working to better our community.
- Parent led endeavours promoting parental involvement and fostering a sense of community, Kilkari– our Diwali mela being one of them.
- Crews working together to solve a problem including inquiry -based learning, authentic learning, and discovery learning.
- Children making choices as they explore material, resolve conflict or forge friendship during free play time.
- Freedom to engage in parallel, group or individual learning.
- Breathing circle that provides freedom of movement and expression while working with socio-emotional harmony.
“Enabling environments mobilize the energy, attention, curiosity and focus of children”
- With the aim to create a joyful, nurturing and vibrant space that stimulates children’s curiosity and imagination as well as their instinct for exploration and inquiry, careful thought has been put into every aspect of design.
- The campus lays emphasis on spaces that are designed to propagate learning and are seamlessly integrated with curriculum that mirrors our ideas, attitude, ethos and living culture.

Indoor / Outdoor Experiences
Student Programmes
Our children take on the responsibility of this Earth in the way that they live, and they begin young recognising their responsibilities.
The programmes include:
Extended Fridays – focussing on the whole brain activities
- Growing Forests- an initiative by Grade 3 students to grow a million trees
- Swedha– knitting patches to warm the winters
- Feeding the soil- recycling wastes to create compost to save the soil
Outward bound or field trips are based on the principles and pedagogy of Outward Bound, a philosophy of education and learning initiated by educator Kurt Hahn who employed outdoor adventure as a method of inculcating leadership, perseverance, craftsmanship and survival skills, teamwork, compassion and responsibility for the common good.
These trips are aimed at: developing character in children through challenge, adventure and service; motivating them to achieve more than they ever thought possible and to show compassion for others; and helping them engage actively with the world around them.
The vision is to enable the child to experience the power of experiential learning in the real context and, in the process, invoke self-discovery.
