Khoj Update for 7A and 7D (3.12.15) Day 3

Dear Parents Greeting from The Heritage School, Gurgaon! Today, the children woke up at 06:30 a.m. for milk and biscuits. The children spent time on a survey, individually reflecting upon the Child Rights that are being implemented or violated for each of them. This was followed by an enlightening crew discussion. Thereafter, in their crews they have finally come up with the Child Right/s that are not being implemented. Protection Against Child Marriage came out to be the most violated right for the children of the villages. While the Right to Safe Environment and Right to Free time was a shared concern for our children. During their campaign these rights will be given special attention. Breakfast was served at 8:30 a.m. At 9:15 am the framework of designing and creating a campaign was shared with the children who were divided into four crews. From hereon, the campaign started effectively taking a concrete shape. The Theatre experts started with a workshop, conducting the same for all the crews simultaneously. The children will have lunch time between 1:00 and 2:00 pm, wherein they will take bath and have lunch. This is also the time when they rejuvenate and seek the emotional and physical well-being of each other. A visit to the village has been scheduled today. The purpose of this visit is to assess the implementation of Child Rights in the particular village of Rajasthan. They will visit the local clinic, Anganwadi, as well as interact with the local families to gain insight into their day to day living. These are the families of the village children who are working with our children in the same crews. A discussion on the purpose of BPL Card, Ration Card and such others is also to be conducted. Tonight our children will have dinner with the local families. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to form bonds with their hosts and witness the different walks of life. We are hoping this experience will touch the children and bring about a new rigour in the campaign. The students will return to the camp after dinner and retire for the evening. All children are enthusiastically immersed in their activities and are keeping well. They are looking forward to what the next day unfolds for them. Regards Grade 7 Team
