Khoj Update Grade 5A & 5E

The students of grade 5 A and E reached the farm at 9:15 am in this cold winter morning. They were welcomed with hot chocolate milk and sumptuous breakfast. After finishing breakfast by 9:50 am, the students visited the farm to see the growth of their plants.
The minutely observed the plants and their parts, which they sketched in their journals. They could also see some small insects which are helpful for the health of the crop as they protect it from other harmful insects.
Next, They dirtied their little hands in the farm soil and experienced its texture. They learnt about the process of weeding and mulching by doing it themselves with the assistance of farmers. The students did weeding in two ways : by hand and using a tool. After clearing up the space around their pea plantation patch, they covered the area with dried hay to prevent weed growth, slow water loss, and also prevent soil erosion. As a measure to enrich the soil and increase the yield, they also spread Ghanjeevamrit in their plants.

They harvested the radish and mustard crop and worked in groups to pile them at one place.
After toiling hard in the field, the students relished the fresh sugarcane juice. They enjoyed this break to interact with each other about their experience and freshen up themselves.
Thereafter, one batch of students got a rare experience to cook pizzas using bajra as the base, which was relished by one and all.  The other batch clarified their questions and interacted with the farmers.
After lunch, the batches will swap. The second section will now make sweet rice crispies for all students and teachers.
Students will depart from the farm at 3:30pm. Please await for the SMS for the actual time of arrival.
